Becoming A Colour Pop Of The Streets: Meet Street Styler Anne Johannsen
It’s a big deal when grandmother Vogue calls you “the queen of pastels” and a “street style star” - all these epithets belong to our guest Anne Johannsen. I stumbled upon Annes instagram not so long ago, her creativity styling her outfits & directing pictures made me smile and followfollowfollow. She’s a living example of a person who was wearing only beige, navy, white and suddenly becomes a colour pop of the streets of Copenhagen.
Tell us a bit about yourself
My name is Anne Johannsen. I live in Copenhagen but I am originally from a small town called Billund (home of the Lego brick). I am the Area Manager for Ganni in Denmark, but I also do small projects on the side.
How would you describe your style?
Colourful, comfortable and fun.
When did you start using Instagram professionally and how it evolved to this day?
I have done some low key Instagraming for a couple of years now, but it really took off, when Vogue wrote an article about me late summer.
Denmark’s fashion scene is further than a lot of others, it is one of the places where you can see all the latest innovations e.g. sustainability or fashion sense in general, what do you think others can learn the most from it?
Danes are really good at making comfort look cool.
Where do you get your clothes?
Half of my wardrobe is vintage. I like to go out hunting for treasures. My online favorites are Vestiaire Collective and Etsy. I also love Ganni (ofc).
Why fashion is important to you?
Because it’s an extension of your personality. I have always loved playing dress up, and the idea, that by changing your outfit, you can be, whoever you want to be.
How do you take your outfits pictures? What’s a good picture material to you?
All of my friends and family members have tried being my photographer of the day. If I suddently feel inspired, I can also take pictures myself by using a timer. Personately I get inspired by pictures that are perfectly imperfect. I am also very drawned to combinations of colours.
Is there a thing you’d NEVER wear?
Never say never. Purple used to be my least favorite color. Now look at my Instagram.
