Looking For Inspiration: I Dressed Like A Bus

I made myself a task to get inspired from a place, an object or anything else no matter is it pretty or ugly.

In the search of my individuality, I started exploring my surroundings to get some inspiration. I wanted an individual, local approach to global trends and at the same time to be clear about my own identity.

I started looking for images and visuals who give me some kind of home feeling, a bit of nostalgia.

I made myself a task to get inspired from a place, an object or anything else no matter is it pretty or ugly (see what I did here lol). And sometimes inspiration does hide in places who are not pretty at all.

Interesting fact that Lithuania has lots of already used buses who came from richer countries like Germany and are just as busy in streets as new ones.

Bright bold colours, kind of resembling 90s visuals. The bus is a personality in a greyish mass of other cars in streets. Graphics and size stand out in the crowd.

So, I gave myself an hour, took the camera and went for inspiring buses hunt in town.

Red sharp look

Black tinted windows made a base of my outfit and a bright red colour as a statement detail - ready to hit the town.

Nature flow

Patchy graphics reminded me of nature and inspired to resemble it in my outfit. Draped neck scarf reminded me of leaves in a wind.

Blue everything with gold details

A bit dreamy yet luxurious, a blue bus with golden graphics gave me a hint to wear all golden items I have laying around.

Bus seats

You have to go with patterns with this one. I had a pair of emerald pants I wanted to wear for a while. This bus helped me pull them out and actually use for styling.

Makeup

Oh those lines, not too far from my usual and beloved eyeliner. Inspired me to add some extra colours and dots here and there.

Final thoughts

It’s an unusual form of inspiration and I happen to like the results a lot. Colour matching and shapes seemed like I already knew it, it felt comfortable and most importantly all sets that I made have never come up to me before.

Feel free to try it, I will be waiting for your results in #PrettyUglyExperiment or #PrettyUglyOotd!
