Owning The Style With A Social Message Part 1: One Cat Big Change
What’s in common between a design, a cat & a humankind?
The answer is simple - socially responsible design. You might have heard about it already or have a pretty decent idea what it is. Just to be sure, let’s settle it down so we could be at the same point, alright? So basically, it is the use of design process to bring social change, hence, a beautiful and nice place to live. Creative professionals are able to cause real change in the world through the designs they make, by choosing materials & topics and designing to the people’s needs rather than their wants.
Sometimes a friendly Hi is enough to bring together likeminded, that’s how we met Ausre - the owner of socially responsible MEU business, which specializes in kittenish designs.
What’s interesting here, that all of the cat characters you see in her designs are TRUE ACTUAL CATS living in animal shelters. Sharing a mutual care for animals & love for the cats it seemed like a great idea to make a collaboration and loudly yet stylishly talk together about the adoption opportunities for these lovely fellows.
Works started with us looking for a character, a cat star to be a symbol of those who need more love and hugs. After looking through endless amounts of cat stories online we found The One. Her name is Lisa. She is a white ball of fur, who is not a fan of intensive activities and likes to keep her curves in shape by eating lots of snacks. She seemed like a perfect cat icon for this project.
We gave Lisa a rose as a symbol of beauty and how much cats love to chew on flowers you just placed on a windowsill.
